The materials we select are the foundation of sustainable packaging. SYSCON is actively expanding our portfolio of environmentally responsible substrates and consumables, working closely with material suppliers to source options that reduce environmental impact without compromising product performance or shelf-life protection.
Our responsible materials initiatives include the development and qualification of recyclable mono-material laminates, compostable films, FSC-certified paper substrates, water-based and UV-LED curable inks with reduced VOC emissions, and thinner gauge films that use less material per unit while maintaining barrier and mechanical properties.
Reducing energy consumption is a core element of our carbon reduction strategy. SYSCON has invested in energy-efficient manufacturing equipment, LED lighting throughout our facilities, high-efficiency HVAC systems, and real-time energy monitoring dashboards that enable us to track and optimize energy usage across every production line.
Our most significant energy initiative is the installation of rooftop solar panels on our manufacturing facility, generating clean renewable energy that offsets a portion of our grid electricity consumption. We have set a target to increase our renewable energy share year over year and are evaluating additional solar capacity as well as other clean energy technologies.
SYSCON operates a comprehensive waste management program designed to minimize waste generation at every stage of production and maximize the recovery and recycling of unavoidable waste streams. Our target is to continuously reduce the percentage of production waste sent to landfill through a combination of process optimization, material recovery, and responsible waste partnerships.
Key waste reduction initiatives include automated print inspection systems that minimize overruns and defective material, solvent recovery and recycling systems for ink-related waste, segregated waste streams for film, paper, and metal that are channeled to specialized recyclers, and a company-wide commitment to reducing single-use plastics in our operations and packaging.
